Project Overview

RoadTek – Bruce Highway (Glenella) – Mackay

This bridge is located on the Bruce Highway on the North side of Mackay and our client required scaffolding access to remove and replace the post tensioning cables and restore its structural capacity. Due to the location and high traffic volumes, it was not viable to close the road for long periods of time for the scaffolding to be installed.

Benchmark designed and engineered a crane-able scaffold solution which was built on a vacant block of land nearby and then lifted into position across the road on night shift. To ensure the safety of vehicles and pedestrian, the road was closed for 15 minutes while the scaffolding was lifted into position.

This solution not only solved our customers problems, but it also eliminated all working at height risks for our scaffolders and eliminated any risk of falling objects onto passing cars and pedestrians.

The strength and flexibility of the Layher Scaffolding system allowed the Benchmark team to not only solve all our customers problems, but save them tens of thousands of dollars and reduce the project schedule at the same time.
